One of many global issues, but perhaps the single most important, is that of clean water. From humans to animals to the environment, water - or the lack of - affects all aspects of life. And it’s not just having water, but having clean water that is the vital component. Globally, the need for clean water is resulting in efforts to maintain and conserve clean water sources. Locally, conservation begins with each one of us on a daily basis, doing our part in our lives and in our homes.

Most of us have dishwashers that we look at as time-saving devices. Often we give no thought as to how many times a week we run our dishwasher. One simple step, that of re-using a water glass during the day instead of taking a fresh one every time, is one way of reducing the amount of dishes and as a consequence lowering the number of times a dishwasher must be run. This small step has the large benefit of saving gallons of water.

We all love the look of a green lawn and it’s no surprise that water is needed for this to happen. Irrigation systems water at certain set times for a specific length of time. Unfortunately, a system for irrigation itself has no way of determining that your lawn is already wet from rain. Installing a rain sensor makes an irrigation system “smart” and prevents the unneeded waste of hundreds of gallons of water.

While many people may simply water their garden or lawn each and every day, this is actually a rather wasteful and unnecessary practice. Checking the soil in your yard for moisture up to three inches down will give you a better grasp of your lawn’s need for additional watering. Installing a drip irrigation system or garden irrigation system is a great way to get more precise and accurate watering sessions on a more varied schedule.

Grass tends to need the most water and many homeowners are cutting water consumption by planting drought-resistant foliage such as shrubs and other ground cover. These plants require less water and take up some of the space where grass had been planted. This also reduces water consumption. Adding a patio or porch to your home not only raises the value of the home, but also reduces the amount of ground to be watered.

Too many times in our busy lives we can neglect to defrost an item needed that night for dinner. Running the food underwater until it had defrosted enough to use was the way most of us have operated in the past. This uses tens of gallons of water and doesn’t really work any better than non-water measures.

Washing machines come ready made to help save water. There are settings for small, medium, and large loads, with the appropriate level of water for each. Hundreds of gallons of water can be saved by using the correct setting with the amount of clothes to be washed. You also get a more efficient wash using this method.

As a responsible member of this large global water conservation movement, those small steps we take collectively make a huge difference. Putting in a drip Irrigation Supplies with standard drip Drip System is on way that makes a tremendous impact in our daily lives and in the overall effect on water supplies. Every effort we make ripples out in every increasing effects, until it becomes standard that we all want to do our part.
